What is Health Navigator Coaching?

Health Navigator Coaching explores what shapes a person's health choices: The information they trust, the beliefs and experiences they bring, and what feels possible in their everyday life. When someone feels stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of their next step, these influences offer a useful starting point for a coaching conversation.

Building on foundational health and wellness coaching skills, the training draws on Dr. Alice Burron's book Health Shift to strengthen health literacy and help coaches explore these influences with clients. Practical frameworks and tools support conversations about questions such as:

  • What makes this information feel trustworthy?
  • What am I assuming?
  • What matters most to me as I consider my options?

Coaches help clients recognize patterns, explore possibilities, and identify their own next steps, including questions to bring to qualified health professionals. The client's values, circumstances, and choices guide the process.

Meet Hero Girl, your companion through the illustrations in the book Health Shift by Dr. Alice Burron. She brings the hero's journey to everyday health: Discovering what matters, seeing challenges differently, and choosing a next step.

What coaches are saying about the training

“Health Navigator Coaching Training helped me to understand that each client has a unique decision-making journey, and how to help create and honor their individual health philosophies. As a result I am helping them make better health decisions with greater clarity.”

Cindy D., Health Navigator Coach

“The Health Navigator Coaching Training has elevated my practice well beyond foundational wellness coaching. By learning to pause and create space for clients to explore how they make decisions, I've seen them gain incredible clarity and alignment in their health choices.”

Kaitlyn L., Health Navigator Coach

“What I value most about the Health Navigator approach is the skills it's given me to help clients better understand themselves and how they make health-related decisions. While they might come to coaching for help with a specific health issue, the skills they develop together support them throughout the rest of their lives.”

Esther A., Health Navigator Coach

“What I value most about the Health Navigator approach is having a solid framework to help people navigate their health: before, during, or after a health challenge. Health Navigator Coaching gives people the space to slow down, think through what they're experiencing, explore their options, and identify what matters most to them.”

Notice the difference

Health Navigator Coaching is different because it focuses on thinking, not the behavior. Health Navigator Coaches help people gain objectivity and strategic thinking skills so they are better equipped to know what the next best step is for them, by them.

When reading the testimonials, pay attention to what coaches and clients notice: Space to make sense of information, question assumptions and biases, gain a deeper understanding of how they want to navigate their health, and discover what matters based on their values.

Health Navigator Coach Training helps you bring that deeper exploration into your practice. Build on the coaching skills you already have with practical tools to help clients find their own clarity and direction.

“My health coach helped me to coalesce various disorganized thoughts and concerns and needed tasks into a clear action plan. They introduced me to helpful resources that I can use to more intentionally approach health concerns in the future. They also helped in being an objective voice to help me recognize some of my health strategy approaches and tendencies that I was not personally aware of.”

“Talking through everything and seeing how mental and physical health tie together and how everything relates. Talking about flexibility was a huge point as well.”
